Description**
Through this program cadets have the opportunity to earn a private pilots license. Cadets will have the opportunity to fly the Cessna 152 or 172 aircraft while working to earn their license. Progression through the training will be dictated by the individual and may require up to two (2) school years to complete. Additional certification/licensure opportunities are available to those cadets who have already earned their private license.
Participants
All VFMA&C Cadets 15 years of age and older may enroll in this course. Parent/Guardian authorization for participation is required for all participants under the age of 18.
Instructor/s
Highly trained and experienced, FAA certified instructors are provided by the Perkiomen Airport Flight School.
Course Fees
Participation fee is $5000 per school year. Fees cover instruction, aircraft rental, fuel, transportation, testing materials, communication head set, and course materials.
Charge of Fees will be applied to the cadet’s school account through the Business Office. Additional methods of payment by check, money order or credit card are accepted. Additional Fee Information: The fee charged is an estimate of actual training costs based on nationally reported figures from the FAA. Cost for training may vary costing more or less depending on individual student comprehension and demonstration of FAA required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Following completion of training, once all charges have been assessed, should a balance of the course fee remain, the individual will receive a refund of that balance. In the event that a student exceeds the total deposit for a given school year, the student will discontinue training until the overage is paid in full; arrangements to pay for additional training can be made through the Dept. of Student Activities.

Other
Cadets will travel to the airfield on Saturdays departing at 0830hr from Kuncl Lot and will return in the evening.
*Participation in this course supplements the Mandatory Athletic Requirement for each Trimester.
Refund Policy
The $4700 fee assessed is an estimate of actual training costs based on the national average cost incurred by students in a private licensure course, as reported in 2007 by the FAA. Individual cost for training may vary costing more or less at the end of the year. Should a balance remain after yearly charges have been assessed the individual will receive a refund for the remaining balance. Should a student exceed the total deposit the student will be pulled from the course until the overage is paid in full or another charge of $4700 can be applied to the account.
**Once enrolled in any Special Activities Program offered by the DSA the cadet is required to attend and participate in the program. Those wishing to withdrawal from any program should do so in writing, to the attention of the Director of Student Activities. Parent/Guardian authorization is required for cadets under the age of 18 for all requests for withdraw. Academy cadets will receive a pass/fail grade for Athletics following completion of the course for the given Trimester
