Valley Forge Boy Scout Troop - 2010/ 2011
Description
Troop 971 at Valley Forge provides Valley Forge Cadets with the opportunity to actively participate in the Boy Scouts. Our troop meets on campus weekly while school is in session. Troop 971 Scouts will work closely with our Scoutmaster and other troop leaders to plan monthly outings, participate in community service projects, earn merit badges, organize fundraisers and develop individual plans for rank advancement. Additionally Scouts will have the opportunity to travel to Boy Scout Camp as a troop in the summer.
Participants
All VFMA&C Cadets may participate in this Activity. Cadets over 18 years of age with scouting experience may join the troop as adult leaders.

Fees
The participation fee is $200 for the school year and covers food, transportation and group equipment costs for monthly outings, annual BSA dues, unit specific uniform items, advancement uniform items and scouting handbooks for new members.

Scouts will meet every Monday night 1800 – 2000hr. Participants will be required to have a complete Scout Uniform with Troop 971 numerals and a Scouting Handbook. Participants are encouraged to bring camping and backpacking equipment from home. All gear will be inventoried and stored in the troop equipment storage room adjacent to the Troop Meeting Room.
*Full refund of the course participation fee will be granted to those who request, in writing, withdrawal from any Department of Student Activities (DSA) operated program prior to the established course start date. No refund for withdraw will be granted after the course start date.
**Once enrolled in any Special Activities Program offered by the DSA the cadet is required to attend and participate in the program. Those wishing to withdrawal from any program should do so in writing, to the attention of the Director of Student Activities. Parent/Guardian authorization is required for cadets under the age of 18 for all requests for withdraw. Academy cadets will receive a pass/fail grade for Athletics following completion of the course for the given Trimester
